SASKATOON, July 22, 2020 – International Road Dynamics Inc. (IRD) announced today the availability of a new model in their line of portable traffic counters. Manufactured at IRD’s U.S. operations in Spring Grove, Illinois, the Traffic A.C.E.+ is IRD’s entry-level traffic counter suitable for traffic studies that require data collected using road tube or loop inputs. The Traffic A.C.E+ is also a good option for conducting traffic counts at shopping centers and parking lots.
The Traffic A.C.E.+ is a significant upgrade from the previous Traffic A.C.E. family of counters, featuring a completely redesigned circuit board that brings new capabilities to IRD’s most basic vehicle counter/classifiers. The new features include a real-time clock, PV time-stamped data, USB to PC output, data extraction via USB drive, upgradeable firmware, longer battery life (5 years + for road tube counters/classifiers), and capacity for over one year of data. The upgrades significantly enhance usability for today’s transportation professionals and represent incredible value in a modestly priced traffic counter/classifier.
Data collected by the Traffic A.C.E.+ can be retrieved using several methods. Totals can be viewed and hand copied from the display, data can be extracted using the USB port via a direct computer connection, or a USB flash drive may be inserted into the USB port for data extraction.
Data collected from the Traffic A.C.E.+ can be brought back to the office for extensive editing, reporting and storage using IRD’s Road Reporter® II software. Road Reporter II is specifically designed to work with the Traffic A.C.E.+ and IRD's TRS line of traffic classifiers.
In response to interest by traffic agencies in lighter-weight traffic counters, the Traffic A.C.E.+ is available in a Pelican case enclosure that reduces total weight/unit by four pounds. A rugged cast-aluminum housing is still available and provides the most durable enclosure option.
Owners of older Traffic A.C.E. models can purchase a retrofit kit for upgrading their counters with the new features offered by the redesigned Traffic A.C.E.+ electronics. For additional information on upgrades or general enquiries about the Traffic A.C.E.+, please contact:
