What does it mean to be a Logistics Coordinator for IRD?

Reporting to the Manufacturing Services Manager, the Logistic Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating all of the shipping, transportation, and logistics needs of the company in accordance with domestic and international regulations and requirements. IRD has operational installations worldwide with major projects throughout Canada, the United States, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, India, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Ecuador, Honduras, Peru, Uruguay, Mexico, and many other countries around the globe.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Complete documentation in accordance with domestic and international shipping regulations and requirements such as commercial invoices, bills of lading, B13s, Dangerous Goods documentation, etc.
  • Collect and monitor shipping metrics to support departmental KPI’s
  • Responsible for ensuring the safe loading and unloading of freight to and from the shipping/receiving dock(s) while meeting all required processing timelines
  • Coordinate all shipments with various carriers from source to destination
  • Work with our Sales team to prepare shipping quotes for products
  • Coordinate with IRD's Marketing department for all transportation requirements for trade show displays and materials
  • Perform daily track and trace of in-transit domestic and international shipments, and advise accordingly
  • Continually assess and develop opportunities to improve packaging, material handling, and loading proceedures and methods
  • Collect and monitor courier costs, levels of service reports, and recommend opportunities for cost efficiencies
  • Coordinate product documentation and packaging for special needs such as Dangerous Goods Re-wrapping

What we look for:

  • Leadership experience with practice in providing training to a team considered a strong asset
  • Thorough understanding of operating warehouse, shipping and receiving related machinery or equipment
  • A license and experience operating a forklift an asset - training provided
  • A minimum of 5 years of Transportation/Logistics experience and/or related post-secondary education
  • International/North American cross border freight coordination experience
  • Knowledge of “Lean Practices” such as 5S, KANBAN, and Value Stream Mapping
  • Knowledge maintaining budgets and costs in a financial reporting system such as Great Plains Dynamics
  • Dangerous Goods and WHMIS certification will be required
  • Knowledge of Quality systems such as ISO, in a high tech environment would be an asset
  • Must be safety-minded and promote workplace safety and awareness
