Border Crossing/Port Security Systems
EPIC II - Nogales, AZ
Screening and Compound Security System
The EPIC II system is a modern Port of Entry (POE) vehicle screening and compound security system first installed at the Nogales, Arizona POE in the United States. The system integrates several different border management and ITS technologies together, creating an automated environment that promotes site efficiency and security.
The EPIC II system was designed with the flexibility to adapt to the highly variable compound layout at international crossings. The system can be configured for control of conveyances, custom manual and auto inspection strategies for single or multiple agencies, and provides for the exchange of information with data clearinghouses.
The EPIC II system is designed to improve the efficiency and security of port operations through:
- Automation of referrals which allows Port Authorities to create vehicle screening rules that will generate a referral to an inspection station based on driver, vehicle or commodity characteristics.
- Tracking of vehicles within the compound which allows Port Authorities to determine where a vehicle has been, where it needs to go before it exits the compound, and the status of its inspection strategies.
- Tracking of vehicles over time which allows Port Authorities to review information obtained during previous crossings to assist in processing procedures and determining user patterns.
- Report Generation which allows Port Authorities to view statistics on number, status and duration of crossings and inspections.
