In August 2003, IRD acquired the PAT traffic division. PAT had previously implemented a number of WIM projects worldwide. Some examples are listed below.

IRD PAT - United States
PAT Weigh Station 2002, Contract Value $305,448.00
Sand Island Weigh Station, Honolulu Hawaii
- Medium Speed WIM ramp sorting scale ( System A, PAT DAW 400 Staggered).
- Three Section Static Scale 70 ft.
- Traffic control system.
- WIM data collection system adjacent to weigh station. Two lanes WIM bending plate, two lanes Class (System B).
- Weigh Station computer combines data collected from system A & B. To produce complete database for vehicles entering and exiting Sand Island.
PAT Weigh Station 1997
Montana Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Facility at Culbertson, Montana
- High Speed WIM selection scale, approximately 1 mile from weigh station (PAT DAW 400 Staggered).
- Static Weigh Bridge.
- Mainline sorting with two Fiber Optic Message Signs.
- Three video cameras with frame grabber.
- Vehicle picture and weight information displayed on weigh station computer.
- Fiber optic communication system between High Speed WIM selection scale, video cameras and weigh station.
