Project Description: Since 1998, IRD has installed nine (9) automated weigh stations in Peru, with the most recent being installed in 2003. These stations use IRD medium speed WIM systems to pre-screen trucks at ramp speeds, and Slow Speed WIM scales for verification and citation weighing.
The weigh station consists of a vehicle selection lane, an enforcement lane, a parking area, and mainline piezo lanes. The selection lane is used to determine which vehicles should continue through to the enforcement lane. The enforcement lane uses a slow speed scale for enforcement of overweight violations. The mainline piezo lane is used to identify heavy trucks that have bypassed the weigh station.
Bagua Weigh Station
Shortly after the completion of the initial eight (8) weigh stations, IRD installed a dual sorting weigh station. This station is a ramp sorter with a second WIM scale for enforcement and piezos on the mainline to detect trucks bypassing the station. Over height detection is used at both scale locations.
