C & W DEPT. SSWIM SYSTEMS
Project Name: C & W Dept. SSWIM Systems
IRD Contract #: 10000
Client Name: National Engineers
End User: National Highway Authority (NHA)
Contract Value: $104,000.00 USD
Date of Award: November 2000
Date of Completion: March 2001
Location: Jhang-Chinlot toll road in the Punjab province of Pakistan. This is an express highway connecting Lahore and Islamabad.
Project Description: The supply, design and installation of 10 weigh station ramp sorting systems with Bending Plate WIM scales was contracted to IRD in 1997, with several more installed in early 2003. These systems utilize high speed WIM for screening weights and dimensions at high speeds, and Slow Speed WIM for citation issuance.
The system consists of inroad sensors, system electronics (WIM computer, junction box, term panel, etc.), a scoreboard, two (2) printers, a manual console and a barrier gate. The WIM computer description includes standard additional electronics including UPS, etc. The inroad sensors are of loop-SSWIM-AS400-loop configuration.
Trucks cross over the SSWIM scale and the axle weights (from the LCIC card) and the GVW (the final calculated value) are displayed on a sign located near the tollbooth. A standard vehicle record is generated and displayed in the booth. The system is able to produce a citation based on the readings taken from the SSWIM scale. A gate is used to control traffic.
