MYANMAR WIM BRIDGE ENFORCEMENT

Project Name: Myanmar WIM Bridge Enforcement
IRD Contract #: 10020
Client Name: Marplan Company Ltd.
End User: Myanmar Railway Company
Contract Value: $42,325.00 USD
Date of Award: April 2001
Date of Completion: November 2001
Location: The weigh scales at Sagaing Bridge are one (1) hour west of the city of Mandalay. The second site, named Sittiang, is in the southern part of the country, east of the city of Dawe, along the border of Thailand and Myanmar.

Project Description: The Sagaing Bridge is a railway bridge situated over the river, which was built by the British in World War II. It was partially bombed out by the Japanese. Throughout the past several years, two (2) single lane roads were added to it, as well as several other restorations. These single lane roads were the purpose for this project in order to protect them from overweight vehicles.

The customer supplied an external visual alarm that would enable them to detect trucks that passed over the sensor array weighing more than the allowed 13,000 kg Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW). They also supplied the roadside cabinet, which was based on IRD specifications.

This project is a standard, single lane Bending Plate data collection system. IRD installed one (1) lane of bending plate WIM system with a DYNAX sensor and IRD 1068 WIM electronics.
