Project Name: New Brunswick Longs Creek Mainline Sorter
IRD Contract #: 10113
Client Name: New Brunswick Department of Transportation
End User: New Brunswick Department of Transportation
Value of Contract: $505,878 CDN

Location: On Route #2 west of Longs Creek Weigh Station.

Project Description: This project consists of a complete design-build-maintain turnkey WIM system on Route #2 west of the Longs Creek weigh station facility for screening of eastbound traffic. IRD provided all required elements of a one lane mainline high-speed WIM system in the eastbound lane, tracking sensors in the left lane and a video system for enforcement purposes. The mainline system sorts violating vehicles into the weigh station based on allowable weight limits for the Province of New Brunswick. The sorting decision is conveyed to the driver via the bilingual Changeable Message Signs controlled through the IRD lane control system (LCS). The mainline WIM system triggers the enforcement control system (ECS) camera(s) to freeze an image of the violating vehicle and display it in a monitor in the weigh station.
