Project Description: In 2003, IRD was awarded a contract from JAS Toll Road Co. Ltd., in Bangalore, India to supply and install 20 lanes of IRD's new iTOLL toll collection system. The toll system is implemented at two (2) toll plazas (one (1) at Nelamangala and the other at Tumkur) on the NH4 highway near Bangalore, and forms part of the National Highway Authority of India's (NHAI) National Highway Development Program.
Each plaza consists of 10 lanes of a post classification toll auditing system, a plaza computer, a voice system and software. The two (2) systems are monitored by a central administrative computer system. The system uses the IRD iTOLL software and the Lane Interface Unit / OEM PC with Windows XP OS. The toll booth operator obtains the payment and enters the transaction into the lane computer connected to LIU. The LIU accepts inputs from the lane computer, performs calculations, records vehicle by vehicle data, controls the operator display, accepts inputs from vehicle classification sensors, and communicates with the Plaza Computer.
The toll system features automated payment method using monthly passes and barcode tickets, and the new IRD iTOLL video incident detection system.
