Saskatchewan Virtual Weigh Stations

Project Description:

IRD has provided the Saskatchewan Ministry of Highways and Infrastructure with Virtual Weigh Station (VWS) Systems at three locations: Prince Albert, Weyburn, and Carlyle. The Prince Albert location operates with Single Load Cell (SLC) Weigh-In-Motion (WIM) scales and the other systems at Weyburn and Carlyle operate with IRD-PAT Bending Plate® WIM scales.

This project was a full turnkey contract including maintenance and service. Each site can be controlled in a real-time operative mode from a central location over a web connection. Officers can also perform spot checks on site and can view the weight and dimension data of approaching commercial vehicles on their vehicles' laptops. Camera images and license plate reader data are associated with each vehicle record. IRD was contracted to download and host the data from the systems.
