IRD’s subsidiary in Santiago, IRD PAT Traffic Ltda., was awarded a maintenance project with the Chilean government. Chile is a very long country (5000 Km) with the MOP (Ministry of Public Works) axle control points being distributed throughout the entire country. This project consists of 10 double weigh stations (both directions) and 5 simple stations.
In the northern part of the country, near the Peruvian border, is where you will find the Chaimavida weigh point. The next point, Chungara, is located near the Bolivian border. This beautiful landscape is 5000 meters above sea level and is surrounded by volcanoes. Two stations are found in the Atacama Desert - Huara and La Negra. In Santiago, 4 double stations have been installed and in the south, the Concepcion zone, you will find an additional four. In the extreme south, in the border of the Magallanes canal, there are 2 simple stations - Monte Aimond and Kon Aiken. This part of the country experiences snowfall all winter.
To carry out maintenance in the weigh stations IRD PAT Traffic Ltda. has technicians in many cities near the stations. This maintenance project is divided into 3 types: Monthly Preventive, Semester Maintenance (where the equipment is cleaned and painted and the scales are calibrated), and Recovery Maintenance.Back to Projects
