Quartz Sensor
The Quartz Sensor utilizes quartz crystal force sensing technology. They consist of an aluminum alloy profile in the middle of which quartz disks are fitted under pre-load. The sensor is isolated from side forces by a special elastic material. These sensors are easily installed flush with the surface of any existing or new asphalt or concrete pavement surface with epoxy adhesive. The sensors are available in 0.75 meter (2.5 foot)and 1.00 meter (3.3 foot) sensor lengths and various cable lead lengths. Four (4) sensing elements are used per 3.7 meter (12 foot) travel lane. The surface of these sensors are ground to conform to the pavement profile.
Quartz sensors are used for medium and high-speed Weigh-In-Motion (WIM) and/or vehicle classification applications.
Accuracy: ASTM Type I (Gross Vehicle Weight: +/- 10% @ 2s)
Speed of Operation: 15 km/h to 150 km/h (10 mph - 100 mph)
