Daylight Saving Time FAQs
Does my warranty cover the programming changes that may be needed to bring my equipment into compliance?
Your warranty provides coverage should the IRD product or system require repair due to defects in materials or workmanship under the typical use of the product or system for a specified period of time. The upgrade for daylight-saving compliance is not due to a defect or workmanship but to government regulations. Therefore, the supply, installation, and/or implementation of this upgrade to comply with the Energy Policy Act of 2005 is not covered under warranty.Does my service contract include the labor cost to cover the programming changes to bring my equipment into compliance?
Per the service maintenance agreement, IRD will, by its authorized representatives, inspect and maintain in operating condition, the equipment itemized on such equipment schedule. The maintenance services provided do not include services required as a result of installation of additional features, options or functions, major overhauls, or refurbishing the equipment due to changes in governmental regulations.
Will new products and systems I order from IRD be compliant with the change to daylight-saving time?
New equipmentpurchased installed or commissioned after January 1, 2007 or later will be daylight-saving time compliant at no additional charge. Any product or system installed or brought live prior to January 1, 2007 may require firmware or software enhancements and additional charges may apply.
There is only a limited time before daylight-saving time begins (March 11). Will you get to my locations in time?
IRD field service teams will make every effort to schedule all calls and complete as many daylight-saving time changes as possible before March 11. Scheduling will be completed as demand allows, however, technicians will be dispatched on a first-come, first-serve basis. In the case that an IRD technician cannot reprogram your equipment before March 11, or the required firmware or software enhancement is unavailable at this time, the product or system can be manually adjusted via on-site visit or telemetry (if available) to reflect the correct time and date until the upgrade can be performed. What is the policy on non-IRD associated equipment such as office computers used to process data?
It will be up to the customer to contact its computer and software vendor to obtain any upgrade for the daylight-saving time change in 2007. It is IRD’s policy that our IRD Service Group will not deliver, provide, or support another vendor’s software. However, it is possible for IRD Service Group to install third-party upgrades as an agent for the customer, provided the customer has signed an Authorization to Install Third-Party Software Agreement. The customer must provide the upgrade on suitable media and installation instructions which is compatible with its computer equipment. There is a fee for the provision of this service.
